I Remember Nothing
I Remember This

2019. Garter Lane Arts Centre, Waterford, Ireland

‘A child’s desire for a doll to come to life may become, in adulthood, a fear’ WOOD, GABY, Living Dolls: A Magical History of the Quest for Mechanical Life, London: Faber and Faber, 2003.

Considering the above theory as a starting point for investigation, I Remember Nothing, I Remember This presents a combination of dreamlike imagery, alternate worlds and inanimate objects come to life.

By embracing a deliberately hand-made aesthetic, and drawing on influences including 1970s & 80s children’s television programmes, fairy tales, half-remembered stories and museum visits, the exhibition provides a visual counterpoint to the computer generated imagery and plastic sheen that dominate the current era.
